"Great" economy, Great fire wall

CNN is one of the two English TV channels I have access. In recent days, they were reporting the World Economic Forum at DAVOS, Switzerland, China seems to be one keyword. It is said China is now the fifth largest economy in the world. She is the second when counting the purchase ability, and the first on investment recieved.

Global Nanotechnology Research

I received an email from Dr. Ronald N. Kostoff of ONR in surprise. The title of the message is "Global Nanotechnology Literature". It outline results of two evalution studies on global nanotechnology research by text mining. I was surprised because I am not a researcher on Nanotechnology. Some highlights:

    China has launched its second manned spacecraft

    China has successfully launched its second manned spacecraft, carrying two Chinese astronauts into orbit. The lift-off, from Jiuquan in the Gobi desert, was shown live on state television and included views from a camera on the outside of the craft.
    The mission is expected to see the Shenzhou VI orbit the Earth for five days, during which the astronauts will carry out experiments. It comes almost exactly two years after China's first manned space flight.
